Birth party

there were seven of us at our church pregnant within the same time frame, three the month before me.  That makes for a lot of baby showers. So when word started popping up about holding one for me, I wasn’t so sure.  I didn’t want to tax so many mutual friends, and while the idea of “showering” a baby doesn’t really appeal to me, I loved the thought of celebrating his birth and life. I loved the thought of sharing him with my friends and introducing him into such a loving and caring circle of ladies.

My mom hosted it and baked all the delicious food.

I then took a picture of everyone holding him and they wrote a little note to him on these really cute cards we had found. I am going to put both the picture and the notes in a book for him so that he can see how much he was loved and adored by these wonderful women.

(Note for lactating women when holding an infant, holding them in the cradle position is considered teasing :)

He was a ham all night and was loving every minute of it. Couldn’t get enough of these smiles!

As I snapped these pics of my friends awing over my precious boy, I felt such love surround me.  I was so blessed to have these women share in the joy of my child with me.

With all that is crazy in the world right now, I knew that Heavenly father had placed these ladies in my life…  to offer a sounding board and some adult talk and girls nights for me, and to watch over, teach, lead, guide and share in the accomplishments of my precious children.  What comfort that knowledge brings.
