Our first campout of the year was Memorial day weekend. We recently purchased a KM Resort camping package from friends and we were excited to use it. So we headed out to Maple Grove in Randall.
They told us to pick a spot in the woods and while driving around we were highly dismayed at the amount of mud we were encountering. Turns out the river along the camp flodded and since then they have had a hard time drying it out. We drove and drove desperately looking for a spot that was mildly dry enough to pretend that we wouldn’t be miserable while camping in it. No such luck. We ended up getting the van stuck at least four times. Finally this gentleman from a nearby site came to help us push. He was a big hit with the kids and ended up being a great baby holder a good portion of the weekend.
The kids loved picking flowers for their mommy.
Kaden’s tray became the drop off point for all the food that the other children didn’t want to finish.
It looks a lot dryer than it actually was. Here we got the van stuck twice before giving up. After debating on whether to just go home or not we went to the office and asked if we couldn’t just park it on the green lawn area. From there on the weekend got better.
They have an in door pool which we really enjoyed. A club house where they had ice cream socials, bingo and a t.v. and children’s game room. They also had a teen club house with pool tables and a tv. You can imagine how much time the children spent there.
We have truly become pro’s at camping in Wa. It is usually a variation of this set up. (You can’t see the other tent on the left side of the big tent). We set up our compound so that there is a meeting area outside all of the tents and then a kitchen/eating area. All of it is covered, because while you are out there it will inevitably rain. Reminds me much of this commercial.
We have also decided that camping here on the last Sunday of the month is a great option. The local ward has a break-the-fast potluck directly after church and we were so welcomed. How lucky was that?
