Mid march we recognized the milestone of having been married for fifteen years.
I had discovered that one of my favorite comedians, Tim Hawkin
was coming to Salem Oregon the weekend before our anniversary so I informed Matt that was where we were going.
I was totally planning on staying at a cheap motel but Matt surprised me with a room in the grand Hotel, complete with it’s own Jacuzzi tub, heaven folks, yes it was.
Friday we arrived just in time to get to the show and I don’t ever remember laughing so hard. This guy is seriously amazing. He home schools also, so he had some great material to identify with.
You will have to Youtube some more of his stuff.
After the show we went to a quaint little mexican place where we were the only guests and then headed back to the hotel.
Sat was breakfast at the hotel and then lounging around the room getting caught up on all the shows we had missed. I love the fact that we are to a point where a weekend this slow is comfortable and enjoyable. We don’t expect a lot and are quit content to just be with each other.
The afternoon was spent at the mall and walking around all the touristy shops. We fell in love with a company called S.L.A.B. ( I bloogged about it in my favorite things post).
All in all it was a perfect get away. Much thanks to mom and Julie for staying with the zoo while we were away.
Just to show how ditzy I have gotten, we were in the elevator with some other people decked out in mardi gras adornment, when they left I asked Matt “Why do people always seem to celebrate mardi gras while we are celebrating our anniversary?” As soon as I had uttered the words enlightenment came to me. Thank goodness, thought I was losing it for a moment there.
I told Matt for twenty years he gets to take me to New Orleans.
