For the past two years I have planned a home school trip to Great Wolf Lodge. We get an amazing discount and it is so much fun to go with a bunch of other families. There is always someone for the other kids to hang out with and other moms to share good conversation with. we really look forward to these trips. Besides that Great Wolf Lodge is just an amazing vacation in and of itself. It is the one place where all the different age groups in my family are able to enjoy themselves.
In the kids club they have Bingo each night and Sariah was lucky enough to win this adorable stuffed animal. She names him “Bingo” and was smitten.
Seems we are always able to top the boards. The secret is that I am cheap. Last year we bought one wand and made everyone share. they each completed the quest at least once and the points kept racking up….
This year I conceded to let them buy another wand, it had to be pink as per request o the drama queen. We named it “Princess Butt”. Our other name is “Olson Half Dozen”.
The sign of any good vacation. If the kids go to sleep quickly and sleep soundly we are coming back!
Sariah was finally able to go across the lily pads on her own this year!
Two funny things happened to show me just how far technology has come.
Sariah was watching cartoons and started screaming because her show had gone off, “I didn’t even hit any buttons, mom!! It just went off all by itself!” After figuring out what she was talking about, I tried to explain to her that it was a commercial and her show would be back on in a few moments. For some reason she couldn’t get what I was saying and kept pleading with me to switch it back to her show. Then I realized what was going on. We don’t have tv programming and use netflix or stream video, she has never seen commercials before…
Another time TJ and I were waking up from a nap when he pointed to the end table and asked what “that” was. After playing the guessing game where I guess what he is referring to and he repeatedly tells me “no, that!!!” I told him it was a phone. He looked at me like I didn’t know what I was talking about and refused to believe me. I finally had to call a friend and let him talk to her. We don’t have a land line, so he has only seen cell phones and had no idea what a real phone looked like.
