Here is the annual “Kids in their Christmas eve pajamas in front of the tree” pic.
The kids are bigger, there are more of them and our tree is still pathetic, but that is OK. I have totally come to terms with a kid friendly and kid destroyed tree. Totally.
The first year a child is old enough to participate in the excitement (even if they don’t totally understand it) is always fun. Kaden was such a joy. I really love watching the first moments and this one is always such pure happiness. I mourn the day when I know I will never again get to experience the joy of watching my child experience Christmas for the first time, but then I snap out of it by reminding myself that by that time I will have grandkids.
Having had foot surgery two weeks before Christmas I had a ton of time to do some crocheting. I found an adorable pattern book for crocheting animals and began to make T.J. a zoo. Normally they don’t pay attention to what I am making but this time T.J. was well aware and everyday he would check on my progress. He was very concerned that I knew they were for him and that I would finish them. After opening them he wouldn’t let them go for a couple of hours and walked around the house attempting to carry all of them at the same time. The white is a penguin, the purple a hippo, the pink is an elephant, the orange and yellow a giraffe and the brown is a monkey. That boy loves his zoo.
This marks the first year that my older boys have received gifts from friends that just happen to be girls. Mike’s friend (more about that in a blog to come) crocheted him a pair of finger-less gloves. Isaac’s got him a stuffed dolphin.
