Cleaning gets old- Nuggets of Wisdom

Happened to come across this video on a friends blog spot today of all days. You see, it's the first of the month and for me that means abandoning my normal cleaning schedule and for one week living in the "first week of the month" mode.
During this time all the beds get stripped and the bedding washed. Yes, I know most people do it more often than once a month but I have tried and found it to not be worth the effort. We have a ton of bedding by the way...
the children have to clean their room each day however during the rest of the month I usually let a little bit slide, mainly because I know we deep clean during this week. Start at the door frame and work your way around the walls picking up everything that does not belong. closets and drawers are gone through for clothes that are no longer serving their purpose for one reason or another. all the shelves and hiding/storing places are examined for the miscellaneous stuff that often gets put there.
Next is the laundry room where I keep my bin of socks that never have matches. This week I will tackle the whole bin searching desperatly for matches and culling through for those who have reached the end of their service. When I have attempted to match the whole bin all the socks remaining get tossed, unless they are a pair of favorites that a family member would be devestated about losing and I absolutely know that the other one is to be found.
So, there it is. One week a month. I can do this.
It truly does help to have this routine though for all the things that need to be done but end up getting put off until later.

I consider myself lucky if I get to the bedding once every three months.. I know, I know. I do change it if the kids have peeed it or something worse. :)
