Time Out for Women

Last year my husband and I attended Time Out for couples and it was spectacular!!! So when the chance came for me to attend Time out for women in Portland with a good friend I begged Matt and Mom to pull my load and headed out. (yes, it makes me feel good to realize that it takes both of them to do what I do alone :)

We had such a great time. Luckily she has a gracious sister who let us sleep on her floor. Friday my friend attended the Life Seminar and gave me the use of her van. Tristan and I went shopping and I had many interesting conversations with Lola, her GPS navigator.

Me: Oh look there's a Walgreens. Pull into the parking lot.

Lola: Reconfiguring......Turn left and go point 2 miles

Me: Hang on I just want to stop here real quick.

Lola: Reconfiguring......Turn left....Turn left now.......

Me: Would you just pause for a bit?

Lola: Reconfiguring........

Anyhow Friday night was awesome!!! We were treated to a concert by Jason Deere and the band he has been touring with. They did the narrations and songs for almost every song off their "Nashville tribute to Joseph" and "Nashville tribute to the pioneers", plus they sang a new song off an album in the works which is a tribute to missionaries. Amazing, that is one I am definetly going to have to pick up when it is released.
Saturday we ran into two ladies from our Homeschool coop and heard from Cherie Call, Kenneth Cope, Mary Ellen Edmunds, Elia Gougouris, Camille Fronk Olson, and Emily Watts. It was such an amazing and uplifting day, and Tristan was perfect throughout it all!! Such a good boy.
Two of the things I took away were the saying "I give you the gift of an imperfect mother so you wont have unrealistic expectations when you enter marriage". and the idea that we need to prepare our children to serve the Lord for the resto of their lives. I have known this but when the speaker spoke about the subject it really opened my eyes and gave me a more concentrated focus.
So thanks to my friend (pictured with Isaac above) for driving, her sister for letting us crash and to Mom for pitching in and Matt for encouraging me and letting me go. Love Ya and can't wait to do it again!

I have always wanted to go, but I don't think I ever will. Ryan can't give up vacation time for us to be apart! :) Glad you got some time for yourself (and a friend) and were uplifted spiritually.
