I sure wish someone would figure out why children want to help so much when they are too little to help and then they don’t want to help at all when they are mature enough to really… actually… well, help. Come on, we can figure out amazing things but no one can answer that simple question?
All of my children have “helped” but it seems Kaden is extreme. Or maybe it is just that I don’t remember the details of the other kids, or that I didn’t notice as much because there were fewer of them and I had more time for them to help (and probably more patience too).
His obsession with the vacuum is unbelievable and annoying, extremely so. It has gotten so bad that I have to vacuum while he is asleep, gone or distracted and the distracted thing never works because as soon as he hears it, that little boy comes a runnin. Apparently by his rules no one is allowed to vacuum but him and he will pull out all the stops to ensure that rule is upheld. He has even taken to yelling at me and pointing his finger at me if I try to take it away from him. Annoying I tell you. Some day though I will be in a quiet, empty house bored to death and I will come across this post and wont believe that I ever thought such behavior was annoying. But for now, in a full, extremely loud house it is on the top of my list of annoying behaviors.
K. Literally, as I am typing this he looks up at the screen and sees the pictures and ran off to the vacuum. turning it off an un plugging it doesn’t work anymore. He has figured out how to solve those problems. Hiding it doesn’t work either….
And that’s not all. He must wash dishes.
So, I have even taken to washing the dished in secret when he is not around. Every once in awhile I have pity on the poor guy and let him wash, but most of the time if he catches me washing is suspended until he is once again otherwise occupied. Sucks to be the last born I suppose.
Then, there are the times when they gang up on me and I consider myself out numbered and add washing the floor to the list of things to do.
I don’t have pictures but his services also include washing clothes and drying them and putting them away.
Hey, there’s an idea. Anyone want to hire a housekeeper?
Just to prove my point though, notice that there are no older children in any of the pics that involve a dishwasher or vacuum.
